Prior to ATI driver installation, it is essential to update BIOS (from HP version), Intel chipset driver (from Intel), and Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver (from Intel). Therefore, I would need to write a set of instructions before issuing the mod drivers. With mod drivers, the driver update is fairly easy.but it does involve multiple steps that must be followed precisely to achieve a flawless installation. Yeah sure, I produced stable mods of the hot v11.80.and the prerequisite v11.2 (must be installed first.then 11.8). (In case somebody does want to try and experiment on their own, I strongly recommend backing up your system to external drive as well as creating a system restore point.) In any event, I'm using my HP Notebook to write this message.a day after installing the v11.8 driver.no issues or bugs.and it is now time to smoke the competition in Warcraft with help from my newly souped-up Mobility Radeon!

If enough people express an interest, I will post instructions and my two mod v11.xx drivers on Windows Live Skydrive for download. But with instructions and the two drivers, it is fairly easy to accomplish.and the significant increase in the Radeon's performance is well worth the efforts. Without detailed instructions and the pre-modified v11.xx drivers in hand, the average HP Notebook owner should not attempt this driver upgrade. I know my rough sketch is not adequate for pulling off this project. The earlier v11.? driver must be installed first.then the v11.80 can be installed (those two drivers won't corrupt the 'original' Intel HD Graphics driver, but all other ATI versions do mess up the Intel driver). Just two particular drivers from the v11 series work. Ultimately, the v11.80 is the goal.but you can't go directly to the v11.8 and hope to keep the original HP Intel driver intact (corrupt the Intel HD Graphics driver and the BLACK screen of oblivion is your reward). Also, avoid the v11.5 and v11.9 drivers (they are totally incompatible for this project). Avoid the v10 series of stock ATI drivers. Not all 'stock' newer ATI drivers will work. (The HP Intel HD Graphics driver v8.771.1.0 works great in conjunction with ATI Mobility Radeon driver v11.8.) Then two recent 'stock' ATI driver versions must be slightly modified to overcome the 'block' to installation. So, the key trick is finding a way to get rid of the 'HP' ATI Mobility Radeon driver while keeping the Intel driver from the last official HP driver version. Except for that Intel driver, two particular 'newer' ATI drivers work perfectly in the HP Pav Notebooks. The integrated Intel HD Graphics is definitely the heart of the problem. Without the ATI-mod Intel driver, the 'direct' ATI drivers are blocked from installing.and if you managed to get it to install, the 'direct' ATI driver will not work.again, a black screen is the consequence. Official Mobility Radeon drivers downloaded directly from ATI don't contain that special modified driver for the Intel HD Graphics. If the Radeon and the Intel graphics don't have drivers that allow both to work together, a black notebook screen is the result. The last official HP ATI Mobility Radeon contains two graphic drivers: one for the Radeon and one specially modified for the Intel HD Graphics. The first big challenge is dealing with the 'switchable graphics' feature of the HP Notebooks. It took four days of hardcore testing & tinkering with many versions to find the right versions to modify for a rock-solid 'mod' v11.8. It is tricky business upgrading to v11.8. (The most current ATI version is v11.9, but that latest version crashes the HP Notebook.avoid v 11.9x) The last 'official' HP driver v8.7xx is lame in comparison to ver 11.80.

My driver upgrade works flawless with Windows 7 x32 & 圆4. Rendering & conversion of video is now at least 30% faster. Games play much faster with greater stability.
